St. Kieran Worship Commission

The Worship Commission coordinates the efforts of all who work to

enrich the public worship of our parish through varied ministries.

Altar Servers  - Fr. Bill

Altar Servers are young men and women enrolled in Grades 5 - 8 of our school and religious education program, who assist at Mass on Sundays, holy days, and at weddings and funerals.  For information on becoming an Altar Server, contact Fr. Bill.

Eucharistic Ministers - Joe Sopron

Eucharistic Ministers are confirmed Catholic Christian lay persons, mandated by the Archdiocese of Chicago. Their specific purpose is to assist in distributing the Body and Blood of Christ. Their service helps ensure that the Eucharist is shared with sufficient time, care and reverence.

Greeters - Barbara Fonfara
Greeters welcome visitors, newcomers, and fellow parishioners who gather for worship and fellowship at Masses on Sundays and major feast days. Greeters also distribute special items which are to be given out on a particular occasion, such as on Easter, Mothers’ Day, or Fathers’ Day.

Lectors - Emil Vasek

As Lectors, the Word of God is entrusted to us. We are called to bring forth, and proclaim His Word in the church’s worship. Through the proclamation of the Word, Lectors become a channel by which God can touch and change the lives of those who hear, and believe. All Lectors are provided with preparation materials, and practice sessions are scheduled to help them become comfortable with their calling, and to answer any questions they may have regarding their ministry.

Liturgy Committee - Joan Hair
The Liturgy Committee is made up of parishioners and parish staff members who share a desire to make our Masses and other services beautiful and powerful experiences of  prayer. Members meet twice each month, and volunteer their ideas, time and talents. We work together to plan Masses, devotions, art and environment, etc. which are appropriate to the different seasons of the Church year, and consonant with the principles articulated in the Church’s official documents on the liturgy.

Music Ministry/Choir - Joan Hair
Cantors, instrumentalists, and choir members lead and enhance the sung prayer of the congregation at weekend, holy day, seasonal, and sacramental liturgies. The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings at 7:30, beginning September 7 thru Pentecost 2001, except December 28th and the Thursday after Easter.

Ushers - Ken Broxterman

Ushers assist at Sunday and holy day masses by taking up the collection, distributing the parish bulletin, helping seat people, and offering other assistance as needed. Meetings are held as needed to review responsibilities and update activities.
