1974 St. Kieran Alumna Earns Fulbright

Homewood resident and St. Kieran alumni, Tammy Haggerty Jones received the prestigious Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Scholarship. Ms. Jones, a third grade teacher at Strassburg School in Sauk Village, was selected from more than 100,000 teachers across the U.S. Jones will travel, all expenses paid, for three weeks to Japan this fall.

Established in 1996, the JFMF is funded by the Government of Japan. This program also provides learning opportunities for American educators to enhance their curricula by bringing students, administrators, and communities greater understanding, respect and appreciation of other cultures trough travel related
experiences.

In 2004, Walt Disney Worldwide Outreach honored Jones with the DisneyHand Teacher Award. Jones was selected from more than 150,000 nominees across the country.
