According
to
the
ideals
set
forth
in
the
National
Catechetical
Directory:
Sharing
the
Light
of
Faith,
the
purpose
of
religious
education
in
the
parish
is
to
enable
parishioners
of
every
age
to
participate
in
three
aspects
of
catechetical
ministry:
reflecting
on
the
Word
of
God,
celebrating
the
Sacraments,
and
pledging
our
lives
in
service
to
all
God’s
people.
We,
the
community
of
St.
Kieran
Catholic
Church,
respond
to
this
call
by
committing
ourselves
to
the
religious
education
of
our
children
and
their
development
in
the
faith.
Therefore...
We
believe
that
through
reflecting
on
the
Scriptures,
our
children
will
develop
an
appreciation
for
their
own
personal
relationship
with
God
and
others.
They
meet
Jesus
as
a
real
person,
explore
our
covenant
with
the
God
of
Abraham,
and
open
themselves
up
to
the
movement
of
the
Spirit.
The
personal
relationship
they
develop
with
the
Trinity
will
become
the
center
of
their
lives.
We
believe
that
our
children’s
daily
experiences,
brought
to
and
celebrated
in
our
liturgies
and
Sacraments,
will
ensure
that
they
will
experience
our
faith
as
full
and
alive,
reaching
out
to
us
in
our
weaknesses
and
sharing
in
our
joys.
Through
these
experiences
the
children
will
develop
an
active
prayer
life
that
will
be
the
source
of
comfort
and
peace
in
meeting
the
challenges
of
the
future.
We
believe
that,
by
virtue
of
our
baptism
in
the
faith,
we
care
called
to
serve
one
another.
Our
children
will
learn
through
experiences
of
service
what
it
means
to
be
anointed
to
bring
the
light
of
Christ
into
the
world.
They
will
come
to
an
understanding
that
the
gifts
that
God
has
given
to
them
are
to
be
joyously
shared
with
all
of
God’s
people.
Formation
in
the
faith
is
a
life-long
process.
As
we
mature,
the
gift
of
our
faith
draws
us
into
a
deeper
personal
relationship
with
God
as
we
grow
in
understanding
through
reflection,
celebration,
and
service.
The
purpose,
therefore,
of
the
Parish
Religious
Education
Process
is
to
aid
our
parents
in
the
role
of
primary
religious
educators
of
their
children.
Together,
we
shall
provide
the
important
foundation
for
the
future
spiritual
growth
of
our
blessed
children.
