"Come to me all you who are weary and find life burdensome, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon your shoulders and learn from me for I am gentle and humble of heart." Today's pace of life leaves just about everyone weary and burdened. We are caught up with concerns about finances, child rearing, and when we have a little time left over, we experience an emptiness. We are so emotionally drained that we don't know where to begin to relate to our God.

Jesus offers us the simple answer, "Come to me... and I will refresh you."  Unfortunately, most of us don't go to Jesus, instead we go to the television. Anyone who watches even a little TV knows that it does not refresh you, at best it numbs us to the suffering, violence, and secular values portrayed in most programming.

What we need more than ever in our culture is the time to be with the Lord Jesus in prayer. It is in prayer that we are truly refreshed. Prayer opens us up to God's power at work in our lives. Prayer makes the yoke we have been given easy. Prayer makes our burden not only tolerable but light.
